Beetroot Vegetable Idli Fingers

Made with

Beetroot Powder

Ingredients

  • 1 cup idli batter
  • 1 tsp Live Indianly Beetroot Powder
  • 2 tbsp grated carrot
  • 1 tbsp grated zucchini, optional

Method

  1. Mix the Beetroot Powder into the idli batter until evenly pink.
  2. Stir in grated carrot and zucchini.
  3. Pour the batter into greased idli molds.
  4. Steam for 10-12 minutes, or until the idlis are fully cooked.
  5. Cool well and cut into finger-length strips before serving.

Texture tip

  • 8-9 months: Cut into long soft fingers for easier gripping.
  • 10-12 months: Cut into small cubes if baby is practicing pincer grip.
  • 12+ months: Serve with plain yogurt or a mild dal dip.

Nutritionist note

Steamed idli keeps the texture soft, while beetroot powder and vegetables add color and variety.

Parent tip

Refrigerate extra idlis for up to 24 hours and warm gently before serving.

Parent note: introduce new foods one at a time, adjust texture for your baby’s readiness, and check with your pediatrician for allergies, medical conditions, or feeding concerns.
