Quinoa Pongal (Baby Version)
A soft rice-and-dal style recipe for simple balanced meals from 8m+.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp quinoa
- 1 tbsp moong dal
- 2 cups (480 ml) water
- Tiny pinch turmeric
- 1 tsp ghee
- Tiny pinch ground cumin
- Tiny pinch black pepper powder (optional)
Method
- Wash the quinoa and moong dal thoroughly.
- Soak for 20-30 minutes (optional but recommended).
- Add the quinoa, moong dal, water, and turmeric to a pressure cooker.
- Cook for 4-5 whistles until very soft.
- Mash well until no firm grains remain.
- Stir in the ghee, ground cumin, and black pepper powder if using.
- Adjust the consistency with warm water if needed.
- Serve warm.
Texture tip
- 8-9 months: Mash until smooth with a soft consistency.
- 9-12 months: Leave tiny soft quinoa grains for chewing practice.
